Pilates exercises target the deep postural muscles to rebalance the body, build great core stability and ensure correct postural alignment which in turn restores natural, normal movement. |

In a Pilates class the focus is on the transverses abdominis, diaphragm, the muscles of the pelvic floor and a deep back muscle called multifidus. Together these muscles form a natural corset around your centre which stabilise the lumbar spine, building strength from the inside out.
Pilates helps reshape your body, promoting a longer, leaner, more toned look and achieves the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. It is also a great way to relieve stress and unwanted tension.
Pilates is the perfect form of exercise for everyone, from the athlete looking to enhance their performance and avoid injury to first-time exercisers or those returning to exercise after injury or illness. It is especially recommended for those suffering back problems. |

The benefits include:
» Improved posture and body awareness » Increased joint mobility and flexibility » A flatter stomach » Enhanced performance for athletes » Relaxation and improved well being » Improved movement patterns and balance » Greater strength and muscle tone » Less incidence of back pain » Fabulous muscle tone especially in the bottom, thighs and stomach

| ‘Pilates has made me very aware of my posture. Before I came to Pilates classes with Liz Jowsey I had a really painful problem in my groin whenever I was skiing, having to take the maximum dose of painkillers to get me through the day. This pain has now disappeared with no other treatment other than my Pilates classes.’ |
| Margaret Normington |
|
| ‘Better posture and core strength keeps me looking and feeling young, I intend to do Pilates for ever! I really believe it should be taught in schools.’ |
| Jenny Bentley |
|
| ‘People thought I’d got a beer belly but it was only my bad posture. I came to the Men’s Gym Ball classes with Liz, improved my shape and was inspired to carry it on at home’ |
| Norm Clarry |

'I have benefited enormously from the expert tuition and have regained full strength. My class each week is an oasis of calm and I always come away feeling invigorated'
Louise Viner 'I very rarely feel any kind of ache in my lower lumbar region now as I used to, particularly in the mornings and I put this down purely to the Pilates classes. I would recommend everyone to give it a go!'
Kerry Aizlewood-Lubas 'I wasn't sure about Pilates at first but it's opened up a whole new world I knew nothing about! I am grateful for Liz's experience, personal attention and understanding of my limitations.'
